Fresh water spring amazes villagers, onlookers

In what has been referred to as a minor miracle, a fresh water spring that surfaced in Kanchankudah in the Ampara district, in close proximity to the Police STF base, has become the cynosure of the large crowds that flock to see it.
The villagers of the area are of the firm belief that a miracle has taken place as the timing of the amazing occurrence, a period of drought, is so uncanny. This idea has been further strengthened by there being a Murugan temple on the same land. Residents of the area are seen carrying bottles of sacred water to the site, which they consider a gift of the god Murugan. They were performing religious rites after raising the flag of the Murugan temple.
Meanwhile traders too have opened makeshift stalls to cater to the large crowds that flock to see the spring.
